E/M Coding: Making the Guidelines Work for You

Description

CPT revised the guidelines for selecting outpatient E/M codes in 2021 and the guidelines for hospital-based services in 2023. In many ways, the revisions made selection and documentation of E/M services easier. However, many physicians have not taken advantage of these simplifications. This webinar will review and the CPT E/M guidelines and highlight ways to make the clinical record more meaningful while choosing the appropriate E/M code.

Webinar participants will:

  • Recognize the nuances of the medical decision making elements for determining levels of E/M services
  • Understand when and how to use time effectively for selecting the most accurate code for the work performed
  • Learn how to simplify clinical documentation to support the levels of E/M services
