Update on Canine Leptospirosis: Converging on Consensus

Description

Sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim

Join us for an engaging live 1- hour webinar on leptospirosis, a zoonotic disease caused by the bacterial spirochete Leptospira. Despite the availability of vaccines, outbreaks continue to plague unvaccinated dog populations in the United States. This comprehensive talk is designed for veterinary professionals and will cover crucial aspects of the disease.

We will delve into the importance of distinguishing between reservoir hosts and incidental hosts, explore how dogs can become infected, and identify the clinical signs that should raise suspicion of leptospirosis. Learn about the latest diagnostic tests, optimal treatment strategies, and preventive measures to manage and control this disease effectively.

We will also discuss the significant updates from the 2023 ACVIM consensus statement on leptospirosis, including vaccination guidelines that influence the frequency of wellness visits for all dogs. Additionally, recommendations will be provided to minimize the risk of zoonotic transmission to owners, veterinary technicians, and veterinarians.

Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your knowledge and improve your practice's approach to leptospirosis.
