This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the distinctive aspects and practices within the realms of shelter medicine. We will explore the unique challenges, responsibilities, and ethical considerations associated with shelter medicine. Attendees will gain understanding of the differences in patient population, case diversity, and disease management between shelter medicine and private practice.Attention will be given to high-quality high-volume spay/neuter techniquesand other tips for responsible pet ownership and the promotion of humane treatment of animals.
