Xylazine Factor - Navigating the Periphery of the Opioid Crisis



With the opioid epidemic roaring and Xylazine contributing to its worsening, understanding controlled substances and drugs of concern has become more and more important for veterinarians.  We will start with how Xylazine moved from horse tranquilizer to the so-called zombie drug and its potential impact on the veterinary profession as it is front and center in Washington, DC.  From there a discussion of other so called ‘drugs of concern’, those substances that are NOT federally scheduled but may have state regulations and are on the radar screen for future concern.  And finally, having terrified you with this information, we will share a few thoughts on what you can do to keep your practice out of the DEA’s cross hairs.
