Uterine Fibroids Fireside Chat: An Intimate Discussion on the Health Equity and Reproductive Justice Implications of Uterine Fibroids
Non-CE. In Collaboration with Pfizer/Myovant

This presentation is free for all to watch, but you must be logged into your NPWH account.

Uterine Fibroids (UF) are common, and the prevalence rate is 2-3 times higher in Black women compared to White women. Each patient's journey is different; unfortunately, race and ethnicity play a role in this journey. Disparities of UF disease progression and management of black women will be addressed.

The audience will hear a patient's story of her lived experience with UF, while learning about the importance of shared decision making in ensuring that patient priorities are addressed. Educational resources and counseling tips will also be addressed that may help to facilitate such discussions. The goal of this presentation is to raise awareness regarding the patient lived experience of UF and identify simple steps to help improve UF care for patients.

The fireside chat is led by Dr. Shawana S. Moore, NPWH Board Chair and Dr. Sharla Smith, Associate Professor, Population Health, The University of Kansas.
